Avast! On-Access Scanner

When I hover my curser over the Avast! icon in the start bar (as below)

the following message appears:-
avast! On-Access Scanner: 7 provider(s) total, 6 running
I'm not sure what this means, and am worried that I'm missing out on some protection that could be vital. Or is this perfectly fine?
Any advice appreciated.

same as mine I think it is ok:)0

Mine shows the same.
If you click the icon and then details you can see which is running and which isn't. In my case Outlook/Exchange isn't but I don't use Outlook and am not connected to an Exchange server. I suspect yours will be the same as I'm not running any P2P or messenger either and they are showing as running.0 -
If you open it it will tell you which scanner isn't running. Its normal I think its the email scanner.0

Thanks everyone! What a great bunch you are, I love this forum!
I now know that it is indeed the outlook/exchange provider (of the 7 available) that is not running. The comment is "The provider is waiting for a subsystem to start". I'm assuming that this is not a problem as I don't use outlook/exchange (don't even know what it is!).
Well done kwikbreaks - spot on! :T
I feel much better now I know I'm not damaging my computer.0 -
If you are using Outlook for your e-mail client, this provider will start when ou start Outlook. It only runs when It has mail to sweep. If I have helped in any way, and you feel like it - please press the thanks button:beer:0
