I've flown xla a few times, no major problems but no better than most of the tour op type carriers [monarch, a2k - as was, airtours etc]. Rather than xl.com for hotels why not try https://www.hotelscomparison.com - it's saved me on rooms rates quite a few times. Alternatively if you'd consider S/C rather than a hotel book direct with owners of private rental acc [usually more individual & better quality than t/Ops apartments] try https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk or https://www.holidaylets.net.

Flew once with them, about 4 weeks ago to the Canaries. Based on other peoples reviews I feared the worst, but they were fine.

Flight was on time on the way out, 10 minutes late on the way back - passenger's fault.

Plane was a smart looking 767-200 with leather seats. The pre-booked meals didn't seem to be good value (didnt book them)

Leg-room was fine for a 4 hour flight.

I used the code that Savapenny had, worth £15 off per ticket, think it's still valid.

Flew with them to Tobago and they were excellent. On time, in flight catering was fine etc. Better than your average service. No complaints at all.
