Car tax

I have a Ford Mondeo (2000 model year; W reg) for which I had to pay £101.75 for car tax for 6 months.
Is this a reasonable amount? Or would you say that there may be an error in calculations by the DVLA?
A friend of mine, who has an R reg ford mondeo pays less that I do.

Does anyone know what factors go into deciding the tax bracket for a car?

looks like its correct.
Pre 2001 its done on engine size

Rip off isn't it! Glad mines only 20 quid a year. Although I'm paying loads in finance payments and interest so hey ho.

bitemarx, if you pay annually instead of every six months you will get it a bit cheaper.

I pay/paid the same amount on my 1987 and 1992 Sierras. Sounds reasonable for a Mondy.

Well, none of it is reasonable but you know what I mean.
