Getting your interest rate lowered

How do you get a credit card company to lower your interest rate?

When I phone up it seems to be a different department and they are not available 24 hours a day.

They put it up readily enough but getting to someone to request a lower rate seems impossible.

Threaten to leave, if you are a valued customer they may be able to offer you something.

Your best bet is to apply for a 0% BT card.

Once the balance was cleared (courtesy of another credit card), you would be in a much stronger position to negotiate a lower interest rate ;)

May I ask which credit card is involved?

I only use it at present to get the 10% discount in First Class advance train fares.

But I do have a large limit of £12,500 on it.

Used it to make money before interest rates tumbled.

I asked Barclaycard out right by secure message on Internet Banking and they reduced my rate. I simply said can I have a rate reduction please! :j

14.9% to 9.9 on Barclaycard Platinum.

I sent a secure message saying that I would like a rate reduction as I had noticed on the website that the typical rate for the platinum card had been reduced to 12.4% from 14.9.

Last Saturdays Times on Pg75 had a Barclaycard VISA best purchase rate per annum of 6.8% which is better than virtually all loan rates.

This was for purchases not balance transfers or initial offer rate but their bog standard purchase rate.
