Thoughts on Hertfordshire villages

I have previously asked for posters' opinions on St Albans and received lots of helpful replies.

My wife and I are now considering some of the villages around St Albans and Harpenden - Markyate, Wheathampstead, Berkamsted etc.

I'd be interested in any thoughts on those places. Our budget is up to £600k and we would need 4 bedrooms. Good schools are important, as are transport links to London (the City in particular - so links to Farringdon, Moorgate, Liverpool St would be ideal).

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I currently live in St Albans only temporarily while we're househunting but I've been living in around Hertfordshire most of my life so thought I wouls offer my thoughts, I don't knowWheathampstead that well but it is nice, Berkhamsted is lovely, really lovely, (I looked there for ourselves but it's a little pricey for us so we're looking a little bit further out to some of the Bucks villages) it offer's a lot good selection of shops, good supermarket, lovely places to eat and only a short drive and you in the lovely chilterns countryside, I think the schools are good too, the main high street is very attractive too and good transport links. Has a nice "feel" about it. Just my views but hope that helps a little :D
