Hi
I'm going to Brussels from 10th-12th April and need hotel accommodation. Any recommendations? Looking for something that won't break the bank. Really, a family room is needed (4 beds). Doesn't matter if one or 2 beds are roll-outs etc.
Thanks for your help

We've stayed as a family of four, in the holiday inn in brussels, convenient for trams (outside hotel), 5 mins to Metro Station and always good value (although your dates don't look particularly cheap), checkout the https://www.ichotelsgroup.com website. Also Holiday inn advertise lots of special offer rates in the Daily Mail, etc. But Easter will potentially be dearer.
For Luxury, we have previously stayed in the The Royal Windsor, superbly comfortable, best breakfast I have ever had, at was arround £85 per night B&B booked through airmiles, but rooms will only sleep upto 3 (double bed + one rollaway).
If you are looking for things to do we regularly go to Bruparck, it has the Atoms, Mini-Europe https://www.minieurope.be/en/index.html and Oceade - Adventure Swimming Pool.
For Good Belgium Chocolates we try and visit Mary's Chocolatier on Rue Royal https://www.marychoc.com/en/index.html they are expensive, but the best we have tried, they make chocolates for the Belgium Royal family. The Shop (more like a Boutique) is quite an experience in itself.
For Waffles and Chips (they double fry the chips in Belgium, yum, yum) we tend to buy from small outlets which are every where in the main tourist areas.
For travelling around Brussels get a travelcard (Metro/Trams and Buses), at weekends one travelcard covers two people. You must validate ticket in Orange Machines before going onto the platforms at Metro stations at the start of each journey (they don't have entrance barriers).0 -
StudentSaver - You are visiting Brussels from Monday to Wednesday, when it is quite busy; making it more expensive to stay, than weekends - which is considerably cheaper. However, you can still find good bargains - I got mine for £35/nt from Priceline.
I stayed at the Marriott in December, which is centrally located to some of the main tourist sites, all within walking distance. The hotel is a bit worn, but geared up towards business customers - so the no-fuss service is generally agreeable and the rooms are neat and clean. I think they might be able to accomodate a small family in one of their suites.
It is also very conveniently situated near plenty of drinking places and restaurants. The Grand Place is a stone's throw away - where you can soak up the atmosphere, and then get lost down one of the cobbled side streets.

I would agree with some of the suggestions by njsb14 above. I would like to recommend that you visit The Atomium which was closed for re-furbishment during my visit - but re-opened a couple of weeks ago. You can reach it via the Metro to Heysel in 15mins approx. from the centre. This new and shiny landmark is probably the best photo op in Brussels!
The best chocolates come from Pierre Marcolini - Grand Sablon boutique would be a good choice, an experience on its own. With regards to the Metro/Tram travel - nobody bothers to check the tickets - I did not see many people buying them and the only people stamping them in those 'Orange' ticket barriers, were tourists! IMHO - Brussels is boring! I would suggest you take in a side-trip to either one of these cities - Antwerp, Brugge or Ghent. The Belgian Rail is very cheap and fast enough - but not always on time!
