Problems with YouTube clips not downloading fast enough

Hope someone can help me with this one.
When I try to watch a YouTube video it keeps stopping as the 'play' bar at the bottom (the dark red bit) catches up with the downloading bar (pale pink bit). Doesn't happen with all video clips, but occurs enough to be very frustrating!
I've got a new PC and it's not overloaded with junk. I run CC cleaner regularly, and at my son's suggestion have just upgraded to 10MB broadband speed (Virgin Media), but nothing seems to help solve the problem.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Run this SPEEDTEST
Tell us the upload and download speeds
(Im not convinced your actually ON 10 Meg)
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Speedtest came up with this:
Download speed 2357 kbps
Upload speed 230 kbps:beer: My glass is half full :beer:0 -

You're getting just over 2mbit, not 10mbit. Gotta love VM. Now, whether this is their fault directly, or indirectly via congestion is another thing.
I'd check another few speedtest sites in case it's dodgy routing getting you slow speeds from that specific site, but the chances are you'll see the same speeds from them all.
You can also get into your modem's config page to see what speed profile your modem's running. Been almost 8 years since I last had VM (or NTL) so I've not got a scooby how you get into it now.
Having said that, 2mbit should be enough for streaming a video from youtube. You should be able to watch the high quality youtube videos no probs with that speed of connection.
Is anything else using the connection? Torrents or whatever? That'll decimate the speed of anything else running. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
Are you on optical cable or through the phoneline?:idea:0

Just tryin to simplify things

Yes, you need to keep things very simple for me
It's cable with NTL (now Virginmedia).
I've pm'd you with logfile as I didn't want the contents of my PC visible to everyone.
Thanks for the help:T
Forgot to mention, we have a wireless hub, with 2 PCs connected to it. Don't know if that's relevant. My glass is half full :beer:0 -
It's one of those things that happens I think. Just hit play, then pause and wait for it to download then watch it.0

Theyre not giving you the full 10 meg then (It should be EXACTLY 10 meg (Just under with the speedtests))
So id be phoning virgin and finding out why that is
But I also agree with anewhope ~ its more than likely youtube itself not being able to cope with demand:idea:0 -
You should take your router out of the equation when trying to verify upload/download speeds.
Connect your PC direct to the modem via ethernet cable. then run the speedtest again.
Did Virgin give you a new modem like this one (model Ambit 256) when you upgraded?
If not I'd be on the phone ASAP.0
