I know it would be awful losing out on a prize and I would be so upset if it was a big one! But I guess if there is an urgent deadline and the company needs to get hold of the winner asap I don't imagine they can hold on and on waiting for the person to call back, that's if they call back.
If there's no deadline they def should leave a message or call back... but deadlines as per the one above I think they're in their right to try the next in line. . who knows, you could be that next in line person!0 -
I'm sorry, I have to disagree, they could at least ring again 5 or 10 mins later, to just ring the once then move on is a little harsh. And to then ignore all further communication.0
-
The purpose of this post was just to give people the heads up, save the number, if you get a missed call ring back a.s.a.p, you can see there is evidence that if you wait for them to call back you may loose your win.0

It's ok bethm3883, I'm just voicing my opinion. Makes world an interesting place if we all have differing opinions.
I understand your intention of the thread - I was just replying to the posts in the thread - as you did also.
Please don't be defensive - it's certainly not directed to you! I know how it feels to miss a call and therefore not win a comp too - I was just trying to say that companies don't have the time to call and call when there is a deadline. Agreed re poodledoodledoo - they need to make this clear.0 -
I think they need to make this clear in their T&Cs, that's the real problem.
I can understand why they would have to contact winners very quicky in certain cases so their terms should reflect this. Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

GoldenJill, please don't take my comments the wrong way, I don't mean to sound defensive.
Your both right, they need to make it clear that if there is a comp with a deadline or date then you have to be quick off the mark answering your phone, at least you know straight away if you miss the call then you've lost out. You won't waste your time e-mailing, ringing back and getting all stressed trying to figure out what happened.
Is this something we should get in contact with them about do you think?!0 -
Definitely - good idea.
here's the details
here's a link to T&C's for their comps http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/about/legal/competition_rules.html?utm_source=left_nav
here's the contact us section http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/interact/contact_us/index.html?to=competitions
I think you shoudl explain about your experience with them - and let them know you were really disappointed... and get them to be more clear in future!0 -
I'll get on it straight away, thanks for the info GoldenJill!
Will keep you all posted! :cool:0 -
i would like to ad to this post , please dont take this personally or in the wrong way ,
But as i see it , If the company try to get the winner on the phone and there not in , then they go to the next person so be it , If it was a gd prize then its just bad luck you were not in the right place at the right time , It really is only a competition in the end, not as if you have paid for something and not be in for collection. Its all a bonus.
As for saying you missed a call and then had to pay £170 for tickets , thats just tough really , as if you hadnt had that call you would of paid it anyway as you sound as if you was going to go, so why blame Absolute for this ... If you had picked the phone up and won , that would of been a bonus. But unfortunately you didn't and someone else got to go.
Like i said please dont take this the wrong way i am just pointing out how i feel about this , If it happens to me , yer i would be gutted but i would get oevr it and go and enter more and like i said earlier , its a competition and every win is luck and a bonus.
Also i bet if you was that 2nd person to get the call , you would not be worring about that person who missed that call would you ?Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0 -
Thankyou for your opinion, as I said earlier the intention of this post was not to ascertain whether Absolute were right or not, simply to let people know to be vigilant if that number pops up.0
