Help with car dealer, legal standing
Hi
I am in a situation which I don't know what to do next
3 weeks ago I saw an advert on Autotrader for a car, went for it and it was a local garage. I paid a small deposit and said I would came back in 2 days time to pay the rest. Before I came to pick it up, I phoned them and was told that they were moving the car, the alarm went off, the immobiliser kicked in and now they had to replace the ECU. They said they would keep me inform and would sort it out asap.
After a few days, nothing heard, I phoned back and was told that they had to order the ECU from main company and it would take about 10-days to 2 weeks. I waited for 2 weeks and phoned back, they said they not sure what was going on at their main office, they would check and phoned me back straight away.
Not surpringly, like a couple of times before they never rang back, I had to phone again and they didn't pick up the phone and I left a message but they never got back to me.
I have came around their garage twice since and it was closed both time. I probaly have to try again soon in the morning instead of afternoon.
It started to look really doggy to me because every time I rang they kept saying they would find out and rang me back but they never did. It has been more than 3 weeks now.
I don't know what I should do next. Even though it is only a small deposit of £100, I don't want to lose that money either. The way they are dealing with me make me very suspicous and although I was told the car has 1 year warranty on it, if anything happened during the 1st year, I would have to wait for a long time for it to be fixed as well.
Could you please give me advices on this situation.
Thank you

How did you pay that £100?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I paid it in cash, got a receipt and that's it, wasn't doubting anything because I was about to come back in within 2 days0

This is one of the few times I think someone is fullu entitled to their deposit back. Go in and demand it and don't leave until you get it.0

Even if you don't manage to get it back, it would be £100 well sacrificed.
This car/garage combination could have been a nightmare for you in the future if you got problems.0 -
i would agree, go in aget your money back dont fall for any more excuses.
then go and buy a car elsewhere....work permit granted!0 -
Don't buy the car if I were you! If this is what they are like for the sale, I would dread the after sales (if there is any!). Tell them your getting in touch with trading standards too!0

Go sit in a few of the cars & ask for a demo.
Keep hold of the keys & dont give them back until you get you money. Not Again0
