My Servis washing machine is 19 years old and still going strong."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

In 20 years of owning a house I have had 2 Zanussi washing machines. The first for 11 years , never repaired but did have to tighten the screw on the door occasionally. I left it when I sold my house (still working) and treated myself to a new one. The second is now 9 years old -bit faded by the sun and grubby but still fine. The rubber seal on the door falls of every 6 months and I put it back on myself.
I am afraid I'd argue for more or a subsidised by 60% new machine.0 -
Depends on how much you use them I suppose. My washing machines have always done a minimum of one full load per day, often more.
If one load per day lasts 5 years you can expect one load every other day to last 10.0 -
we brought one of those washing machines and had problems after a short time ,they even had to change the drum etc. 3 different engineers came around and only 1 seemed to know what he was talking about. i would never ever buy another 1(even if they did still make them which they dont,so someone has said on here, its so noisy ,apart from anything else)and tbh i am not very happy to see you have been told they dont even make parts for it.at the time when they sold them didnt they say you could expect it to last x amount of yrs thats why we brought 1.sorry no advice can just sympathise.0

Doesn't work like that unfortunately.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

My Zanussi was 16 just before xmas (bought in '92) and is still going strong too! It has never needed any work done on it and when my Dad moved into his flat a couple of years ago there was a very similar model in there and it was still working fine too.
I dread getting a new one as they don't seem to make them to last any more!
It's only a game

You're right, they don't... OTOH, you might find that your electric and water consumption will go right down when you do change, those older models are not exactly energy efficient... One way or another, you can't win.

My husband's grandparents bought a Miele washing machine in the sixties.
It outlived his granny who died in 2007.0
