I am looking to get a rough idea of the cost involved in changing my dining room window ( approx 5ft wide ) into either patio doors or french doors, thanks.

I wonder what area you are in? Forget about the big names. Go for an independent preferably with recommendations.0

Hi,
We had this done and it cost £1,100. That included french doors with 2 top lights, putting in a new steel lintel and opening up the window hole to fit the french doors. I live in North Lincolnshire and used a small local firm.

thanks, that sound like a good price, will start looking for local companies, i was thinking it might be out of my price range.0

We had this done in December. We had to get a building warrant as we were changing it from a window to a door, even though the door was no wider than the existing window (which was also about 5ft). The window installers wouldn't do it without the warrant.0

£100 payable to the council. We needed to have plans too though.0
