EGR's fail on them.
Engines use loads of oil.
Quite a noisey engine. Apart from that they seem ok...!0 -

I had a petrol version sport, comfortable, very nippy, loads of room in the boot, and when you lift the back seat squabs up. I test drove the 2.2diesel and it drove just as good as the petrol but the low mileage I do didn't justify the extra cost.
My brother has had loads of trouble with the egr valve on his diesel mondeo.

Look at personal contract hire because they're really quite cheap that way, have been for a while.
On a test drive I found the diesel to be quite noisy to start with that I wondered why anyone would buy it but it quietened down a lot once it warmed up. I was put off by the fact that the windscreen was warped!! :eek:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Yer, if the OP would consider a slightly more brutal petrol vehicle, even the Type-R GT Civic with plenty of toys, seems to be relatively low on PCH nowadays. I've seen offers for £199+VAT for 3+23.0 -
I drove the 2.2 ES tdi for a year before parting with it, for another civic, this time the Type R GT.
The ES was a good car and lovely to drive, not as much power as the type R, but it did okay. I regulalry got 50 mpg out of it0
