Interest Rates hiked up

I have a virgin cc and a marbles and at the end of last year both companies increased my interest rates massively. Virgin went up to 27.9% and Marbles up to 32.9% both were 14.9% previously. I owe approx £1700 on each of these cards (limit of £2300 on Virgin and £3000 on Marbles), I have been late with payments once or twice but made it up fairly quickly but no longer work, I'm a housewife. I phone Marbles who told me that the cards had recently been bought by another company and they would not review any interest rates at all so, as both cards have expired, I have cut up the new cards and refused to activate them - I am not spending on 32.9%. I haven't got a great deal of money to clear them very quickly but try to pay the minimum plus £50

Does anybody have any ideas on who would be a card provider for a balance transfer? My credit rating is fair and i have a joint mortgage with my husband (no arrears or payments missed)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Without a regular income, you're not in a position to get market-leading, balance transfer deals on credit cards.

Is it possible to move these balances to a new card in your husband's name?

Alternatively, you may be able to reduce your costs using the credit cards you already hold. For details, see Martin's *Credit Card Shuffle*article ;)

Meanwhile, I'd concentrate on paying off as much as possible each month. Clearing this debt ASAP will reduce the interest you pay and you'll be building a better credit history in the process.
