Has anyone had trouble connecting this 'phone to a PC to download photos ? Or more to the point - has anyone had problems and managed to solve them ?
Symptoms are: When in Nokia Connection Manager having done all the right things - when it says to "connect your cable to phone and pc to cable" it just hangs up on that screen without offering the "next" option.
I've had a look at several other forums and have tried some of the "cures" on those; none have worked. I've downloaded the latest software from Nokia, I've tried different orders in connecting the 'phone, I've stood on my head and tried !!! The only suggestion I haven't tried yet is to re-load XP, which seems a bit extreme.
I don't think there is a problem with the PC, as such, its fairly new, fast with plenty of memory- both fixed and RAM.
Why didn't Nokia just design the 'phone so it would be seen by any PC as an external drive - just like a memory stick. Too easy I suppose.
Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know of a generic software package that might work better than the Nokia one ?

I had problems connecting my N70 when I first got it.
It seems that the connection is a bit flakey and although the symbol appears on the phone to show it's connected, the PC doesn't always see the phone.
When it's doing detection, unplug and plug in the phone several times to try and get it working. I did that and managed to get the drivers to install and the connection manager to show the N70 in the list.
It's still a little dodgy when I connect the phone up but it works 90% of the time now. You might just have to wobble the connection on the phone.
My guess is it's the cheapy leads they send out with the phone. The connectors probably aren't that good.0 -
I had tried wiggling the connectors before, so I tried again with a bit more wiggle - it worked !
Many thanks.0
