Cheaper Car Service?

Hi,
I don’t know if this has been discussed before but has anyone any information on prices abroad to have a car serviced or purchasing tyres. I have a Volvo service approaching at a cost of £300 plus parts and shortly will have to buy tyres at around £150 each.
Would it be better to go across to France to have this done, if so, how do we find prices?

I think it has been on the news regarding the rip off maintenace services done by UK garages, especially those operated by the manufacturers. :mad: They go on to compare it with the rest of europe and saying that some opt to go abroad like France where they can get cheaper servicing and have a day out (or longer) whilst they are there. As this news was some time ago, I can't find it now.

Regarding cheaper tyres, they might be cheaper aborad but if something goes wrong then you might need to contact them to sort it out if they don't have a branch over here. For some cheap tyre sites heres one thread I've found (search for tyres on this board should return a few hits).
