MOT Query

I have a wing mirror that has an intergrated indicator in it that currently does not work (may have had something to do with driving into a bin :o) .

I have been to the garage today to book in an MOT and service and have been told to pass the MOT the indicator in the wing mirror must be working thus needing a whole new mirror casing (all other electrics work, the mirror has no cracks)

Now, does anyone know if this is true or is it a garage trying to get some extra pennies out of me during the hard times?

Thanks

Any fitted indicator must be working.

Depending on the damage you may well need a new mirror. I suspect they already considered replacing the bulb.

If you have it - it should work for the MOT..........

Sounds ridiculous - and often it is. For example - if you have high level brake light and one of the bulbs has blown, its a failure. If you don't have a high level brake light fitted - then it can't fail cos its not there. If that makes sense.

And please don't have a go at MOT guys - cos they have to go by VOSA rules and if they don't, they could be out of work.... :o
