Virgin broadband modem issues

Hi,

for the last day or 2 my virgin broadband has being cutting out. It'll go down for about an hours and then work again for about 20mins. I contacted virgin and they've booked an engineer to come out tomorrow as they've diagnosed a faulty modem.

Just wondering if they don't replace the modem free of charge (possibly might say as it's 3 years old it won't be covered by warranty?), is it easy to pick up a replacement modem somewhere?

TIA

Damo

They should replace it free of charge regardless of age.

The modem is the property of Virgin Media, since you only rent equipment from them. It's a straight switch that won't cost you anything.

Well, we've had two routers from our ISP so far because of the same problem you have with it cutting off every 5 seconds ;)

I would be very supprised if they charge you for it, and if they do... well theres plenty more ISP's out there you can go to :)

But only if you have a BT Line.

Possibly. If the OP has cable there might not be any other ISPs they can get, if their exchange is too far away, or there might not be any decent ISPs they can get if it's a small town.

They won't charge for it anyway, it's their equipment.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Its not unheard of for the VM surfboard modem to fail. Rare but it does happen. Other posters are correct VM will replace foc.
