Oyster capping question

Thanks in advance if you can help with this one.

I have a YP card loaded onto my Oyster to provide a cheaper off-peak cap (may not be relevant).

If I take a journey at 12.10AM on a Wednesday for example, does that journey cost count towards that day's cap? If so, which cap - peak or off-peak?

TFL are advising me it wouldn't count as their day's start at 4.30am (when previously met caps would expire) yet that doesn't make sense as if I spend £X on a Wednesday, I've spent it on the Wednesday!

AFAIk the oyster day is counted from 4.30am until close (around) 1am the following day.

The Oyster day counts from 4.30am to 4.29am the next day. Oddly that means that if you get on a bus at 4.25 on Wednesday morning it would count in Tuesday's cap. Potentially annoying, yes, but that's the way the TfL day works. (Just be thankful you get the same fares at night, unlike the rest of us who get charged triple after normal hours!)
