I am looking for a new home for my beautiful beagle due to upcoming bankrupcy, we are having to go into rented house and cant find one that will take him
I really dont wont to have to take him to a shelter, he would hate being caged.
If I advertise him how do I vet people, I really dont want him to go, he is gorgeous and loving, i just want him to go to a really good home.
I havent even told the boys yet, they are going to be devestated
Please help me

So sorry to hear this. Well, the best way is through a rescue because he will be safe and the adopters vetted and an eye kept on them.
Some breed rescues keep a list of people who want a dog and then they check them out for you so the dog goes from yours to the new owner without having to go into rescue.

Have you contacted his breeder? Most responsible, reputable breeders take back their own and, very often, have people waiting for just such a dog. I would imagine that if you contact breed rescue (as suggested above) that this will be one of the first things they will ask you. HTH

Agree with the above two people, first you need to contact his Breeder (If possible) & see if they can help (They should), if no luck then a breed rescue, many use Foster homes so he'd live as part of a family & not in kennels. Is he Neutered? if not pls get him done before he goes & good luck x0

Im so sorry for you all, have you not a friend or family that will take him on? your landlord might allow him to live with you after a while when you prove to be a good tenant, i know my Dad turns a blind eye to his tenants pet as they keep the place tidy and pay the rent on time.

It is a renters market, you will get somewhere decent that will take the dog. Have a look at house price crash forum and you will see what I mean. I have always fed our dog leftovers with a handful of nuts if necessary - with no problem. Our last dog (15) loved spag bol!!!!The rescue dog I have at my feet needed serious feeding so I bough cheap mince, used rice and chopped up a few veg, bagged up the portions and she eats like a queen for pennies.
Another way to get a home may be freecycle, though you would have to assess the offers yuorself (not all freecycles offer this service).
Sometimes your shelter can do a rehome from home service.
Good luck with whatever you choose. (((((((BIG HUG))))))))0 -
have you tried posting a wanted for rental housing on gumtree? i often see houses offered in my area (manchester) that allow pets. lots of landlords will let you if you ask for an addition to be made to a contract stating that you will make good any damage caused by your dog. also that you will be keeping only this one named dog and no other. hope that might help a little.
good luckWhat matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Have you looked at this site? http://www.petfriendlyrentals.co.uk/
Do ask any letting agents to ask the landlord directly, as many automatically say 'no dogs' without asking the landlord...
It may also be worth posting queries about dog friendly letting agents and landlords on a few dog forums, just in case someone has contacts in your area...
However, if you do need to rehome him please do so through a good rescue, they will make sure he is happily and safely homed and should offer him support for the rest of his days, so that if the new owners cannot keep him, they will find him another good home.
If you go through any other route than a very good rescue (which I would really recoomend you not to) please make sure he is neutered, otherwise as a pedigre entire male, he may well be of interest to dubious puppy farmer types who could keep him in a shed as breeding stock for the rest of his days, which is no life for a lovely pet dog.
Please remember, even if you find a lovely home for him, there is no guarantee that they will keep him for life - if they needed to pass him on in a years time, who is to say where he may end up...0 -
When we were looking to rent 2.5 yrs ago, we looked at 3 properties and each of them was happy to take our dogs (3 good sized ones too!) We simply offered to pay a larger deposit and to pay for the carpets to be cleaned on our departure. When we left the only thing the landlady complained about were the water marks on the shower screen!
Good luck!
And would second the advice re contacting your breeder (if they are reputable in the first place of course) I took back a Lab after 4 yrs with a family as they were emigrating - have to admit tho, he never left us !! :rolleyes:0 -

Thank you so much everyone, I contacted a lovely lady last night who helps to rehome beagles and she has a family on her books that would be perfect for him.
We are struggling to find a landlord at the moment due to the bankrupcy let alone the dog!! But although I spent all last night crying, I am pleased that he will go to a home where he is monitored.BR date 18/11/090
