I'm on vista, and the folders i have a little pic of the content inside but they all seem to display random pictures instead of the correct one, eg a picture folder has a music cover preview displayed and there is no music in that folder !
Hope that makes sense and Ive explained it correctly !
Thanks

Hi,
if you right click on folder, properties, customise, it will let you change icon.0 -

Yes i figured that out, but when i create new folders it creates a totally random picture, i need to stop this somehow.

This normally occurs when the image it is using "used" to exist within that folder, but was subsequently deleted. This is fairly standard as otherwse you will need all folders to "index" continuously, which will majorly slow down PCs.0

So how do i fix it ?0

It can't be "generating" pictures surely? They must be pictures you have stored in the folders or at least somewhere on the PC.
What "View" are you using - if it is any of the thumbnail ones the folder will have a picture on it from a picture in the folder content.0 -
Yes they are pictures off my PC, but not always pictures from inside that folder, for example i have some text documents in a folder and the preview is a album cover !
Actually they all seem to be album covers that randomly appearing incorrectly0 -
Sounds like it has got its knickers well and truly in a twist then.
I think there is a system file created when you view as thumbnails and I imagine the first few thumbnails from that is used when the folder itself is shown in the next higher level folder.
Have you been moving things around recently? Maybe it just needs reindexing?0 -
No i think my files are pretty much in the same place0

One to remember for the future - my own experience of Vista is that it is a bug ridden pile of brown stuff. I've been sorely tempted to bin it in favour of Linux several times but never quite worked up the courage to do so.0
