Please can I have peoples tips for removing red eye from photos. I am trying to do it using a software package (as opposed to when the photo is taken).
I have tried Paint Shop Pro which seems to make no difference as does Irfanview. Picassa seems to be quite good. Are there any tricks or hints on how to get a successful outcome?

paintshop pro works very well, have you gone to menu "Adjust" then down to red eye removal? I've edited untold red eye photos with PSP over the years and never found a problemWelcome, rogerramjet.

I've just installed Paint Shop Pro X (Paint Shop Pro 10) and the Red Eye Tool in it is the best I've seen!
PSP X also has a teeth whitening feature too - which I found usefull0 -

In photoshop>select the eyes with Circle marque tool>go to image>adjustments>selctive colour choose red and pull the red slider across to the right. You can do this as many times as you like.
If the first pass dont work.
Can also be done with the yellon channel for teeth whitening.0 -
I'm persevering with Paint Shop Pro 9. I've managed to get the red eye tool working however the result does not look at all realistic. It looks like I've used the airbrush tool on the eye!0

Try the red-eye reduction tool in Irfanview which a very useful and free program.

These steps desaturate the red channel, so may look a bit odd (almost grey sometimes). I find a second step of darkening the same selection puts backs the "natural" colours there...0 -
I use irfanview to remove redeye but I agree that it doesn't always work. I find the best way is to press the + button to enlarge the picture so that the eye pupil is big. It is then easier to ensure that the whole area is 'lasooed' before clicking the 'remove red eye' buttonI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!
I'm not losing my hair... I'm getting more head!!0
