It looks like all you need is the Blue Badge and the holder to be in the car:

Sorry, I stand corrected. The details i explained were for the Humber Toll bridge and i had been told all toll bridges operated a similar scheme. Appologies for any misiformation.

It appears that they all have their own policies, I have only come across a couple on my travels which are as follows:

Dartford River Crossing M25 - free if the vehicle is tax exempt

Forth Road Bridge - free on display of Blue Bladge

Severn Bridge - free on display of Blue Badge

M6 Toll Road - you can apply for an exempt certificate which lasts for 3 years and costs £5 for admin fee which will give you free travel only if your vehicle is tax exempt

All above are only from my experiences and may have changed but hope this helps someone, please feel free to add any more.

To get back to the original question in this thread.... :o

Please do let us know what happens. I run a stroke charity and some of our members are having difficulty getting a blue badge after a stroke  Stroke survivors often DO regain full mobility, but stroke isn't exactly a transitory disability!!!

We ought to run a campaign about this, I know it - sadly I have to spend FAR too much of my time fundraising at the moment, to be able to take on any new projects....
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

Just to give you some hope, I know all councils are different, but I also have ME - I got a letter of support from my GP and sent it with my application.

I had to see an OT but (surprisingly !) found her very well informed and supportive and was granted the blue badge.

So go for it and Good Luck !

    Hi
I too have ME and cannot get DLA although thinking again about applying.
Definatley get your doctor on side as he/she will be asked for a report /questions if you apply for blue bagde.

I managed to get my blue badge and yes it makes a big differnce.
if you have difficulty walking or think you would benefit from aids at home to help ie: perching stool when doing ironing or washing up/cooking etc
bath board so you don't have to stand too long in shower
ask for an occupational therapy daily living assessment from your local council too.
if doc doesn't know where to send you get a main number for council and ask to put through to the correct department

    good luck

Thanks Mandy that's really helpful. Didn't realise it was possible to get OT help, I currently have a high bar stool for doing washing up etc but could probably get something more suitable.

About the DLA, I'm going to reapply too but what I'm planning to do is wait a while as I think they're revising the guidelines for the assesors about ME claimants as previously the guidelines said it was a psychological illness. So personally I'm going to wait a bit and hope they get a bit more clued up. I read about all this in the Action for ME magazine, which I reccommend.

Anyway the form's sent now so waiting for the form to give to my doc.

Jobbingmusician, will let you know how it goes.

I've just applied for my blue badge. I've just been awarded the high rate of mobility (I've got MS) so I'm waiting on a decision, I'm sure I'll get it, I've also applied for free tax now, as you also get that on Higher rate mobility.

Hi, I have MS too, you automatically qualify for a blue badge if you are in receipt of high rate mobility,
    hope this helps
