Hello!

I have been lucky enough to be offered tickets to go see QI in London in May (unfortunately not guarenteed, first come first served) and I will be travelling down from Stevenage way and go for the whole day

I don't go to London often but it's only 1/2 hr on the train but its going to cost us £45 for me and my husband!!!

Usually we would drive down the line somewhere and park but it's a week day so have no idea if and where we'd actually get a space that won't cost the earth..

Do anyone have any suggestions? Or any suggestions how we can get cheaper tickets? We'll be travelling dow about 10 (after rush hour) and back about 10/11pm..

Thanks for any help!

Bex

Where did you get £45 from? An off-peak day return from Stevenage to London costs £13.50, which makes £27 for the two of you.

An off-peak zones1+2 travelcard bought at the station in London costs £5.60 (£5.10 with Oyster), so it's obviously better value to buy the tickets separately. I don't think it will be a problem finding a place to park at a station closer to London but by the time you've paid for petrol I don't think you'd save anything over a train ticket all the way from SVG. Unless perhaps you go all the way to the end of the tube (Edgeware/Cockfosters/etc.); if you want to do this the TfL website has details of parking and tube fares.

Just out of interest, why did you ask us for Stevenage but use a different station yourself?

Because if I'd said Arlesey, which is 2 stops up from stevenage, I figured noone would know where I was on about.. Stevenage is a more recognisable name and close enough.
