The mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

One tip from when I've been before - try to keep an eye out for newsagents selling travel cards to buy before you reach the tube station as the queues at the ticket offices at places like Kings Cross underground can be horrendous0

I have looked online and from what I can gather I can get myself and partner a zone 1-2 travelcard for £7.20 per day, 9 yr old goes free and il get the 12yr olds card for £1, making it £15.40 per day to travel, I think thats good does anyone know better?0

As long as you travel on the tube after 0930am the zone 1+2 travelcard will be £5.60+£1.00 for the 12yr old, there is no peak time in the evening for travelcards.
Dont get a three travelcard they are peak rate.
The staff in the london underground tiocket offices are charged with selling you the cheapest ticket, the staff at a newsagent may not be.

p.s dont have the travelcard added to your national rail ticket as they can only sell zones 1-5 as a minimum0 -

Whats a three travelcard? I was going to go for the peak card as I want to try and cram as much as possible into the two days so will be setting off early if I can.
So I should try the newsagents aswell for the travelcards thats worht knowing.

You can get a travelcard that is valid for three days.
Off-peak travelcards are valid from 9:30 onwards, so that may work out for you. You will also find that you can walk easily between a number of attractions in London. They really aren't as far apart as they look on the tube map!!
It is probably worth holding off going on the tube first thing in the morning - rush hour is manic.0 -
Sorry I meant three day travelcard.
You realy dont want to be on the tube at rushour if you can help it.

we are just back from 6 days visiting london, we spent 2 days in london and travelled by tube from hounslow west station, 2 adults 2 children aged 9 and 15, we travelled through 5 zones after 9.30 and each day was 16.00 in total, under 11's are free and over are only 1.00. I found it fantastic value as we jumped off and on them all day visiting all attractions, i would also avoid rush hour we hit it on the thursday at about 4.45 and it was manic, the other times were busy but fine. One of the days we alos went on train and this as also included in the 16.00.0
