Hello everybody, hope someone can help me.
Im on a stag night in london this weekend and am taking advantage of the cheap travellodge rooms at their farringdon travellodge but need advice on where to park outside of the congestion charging zone but easy to get to the hotel?? people will be arriving about 5pm on friday and want to avoid congestion charging. they will next need their cars on saturday morning when we will be traveling to watford for the day and returning saturday afternoon when the cars will need to be parked up again until sunday am. can somebody tell me the best way to get around this?
mant thanks in advance

You would have to park it in a car park or on a meter outside the congestion zone, because most free street parking is residents parking permits only, if you parked in a street your car might get vandalised.
NCP car park finder here http://www.ncp.co.uk/multimapform.aspxPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
cheers for the link.
Is all on street parking permit only?
Is there anywhere like normal towns/cities where i can just park and leave it without having to worry about paying?0 -
The congestion charge finishes at 7pm friday night till 7 am Monday morning. Don't come in to the area till after 7pm.
Check with your hotel now about parking times in farringdon for saturday and Sunday-and costs.Central London has many ways to extract large sums of money from the unwary.Like driving in a bus lane:stopping on a junction with the yellow crossbands:
thinking you don't have to pay for parking on a Sunday etc etc.It really is a total ripoff.
Fines are usually £120,but if you pay within two weeks they only rip you off for £60.
They are all heart.
Personally I would have booked around Watford, preferably a hotel with a car park
and avoid central London like the plague. You only need one fine of £60 to mess up your budget and staying in Watford should save you having to feed the meter by 8 30 am-I am out of touch with prices in ec2 but probably around £1 for 15 minutes.0 -
It depends what direction you are coming from but if you are coming from the North of London you may be best to park in Angel which is mainly outside of the congestion charge zone, as Farringdon is unavoidably in it.
With parking, avoid the meters, they are very expensive. There is a large NCP (I think) on Farringdon Road, which is probably the cheapest. Or if you head towards Charterhouse Square there is a cheaper car park, but you will definately need a map to find it. Around the meat market (Smithfields) there is free parking for limited time (I cant remember how long). But around there on a Friday is pretty manic due to Fabric being across the road.
So, probably if I were you I would park in Angel (there is free parking for a limited time at the Sainsbury car park, providing you buy something could be booze!) stay around Angel till 7 or else park your car there over night, there is single line parking over night from 6.30 onwards in Torren Street (again look on a map), then head over to Farringdon, then you will avoid the congestion charge and parking fees completely!0 -
Sorry one thing I meant to mention is that make sure you do not enter any roads with the congestion charge symbol up on your way around Angel, some of Angel is within the congestion charge, some isnt, so keep a watch out and dont panic about having to go down a certain road, you wont have to enter the congestion charge at all.0
