Beware though whilst transferring there will likely be a period where you cant trade

Maybe I should transfer my account, every couple of days

Cheap fees like you say, cheaper then IB even if you do the regular investment. I bet IB doesnt timeout when their busy though which is the biggest fault, on a really busy day or a share has some news then I would expect it slow down just like all the highstreet type brokers do.
Last september I even had to submit an order to sell at best price, a couple hours later I found out the price but thats not happened since
By and large, if you're a reasonably active trader and not in need of an ISA wrapper, then IB is a no brainer, £6 a trade regardless of order type, the ability to trade just about any instrument on more or less any market. Whilst IB has a web interface, the vast majority of people will use Trader Work Station (TWS) or some other third party front end such as QuoteTracker or Ninja Trader. This is a Direct Access trading platform, there are no slowdowns, but you will get no hand holding hence they can be fussy about your trading experience, you are expected to know what you are doing, this does lead people to consider their customer service somewhat lacking, in that they do not expect to answer routine questions that experienced traders should know.

i want to make sure iii is better or as good as Selftrade before i do that transfer ;)
    You need to define 'better'.

I (we) have a number of accounts with Selftrade (including a self select CTF) and during the recent debarcle on changing / introducing the AMC I investigated a lot of online dealing accounts.

From my expereinces of the iii site on a daily basis as my main chat/bb useage I wasn't keen to move to them. And infact have chosen (for the time being) to remain with Selftrade.

Another take on currency and its effects on returns for the international money

Dollar index is 76 presently with a target of 67 apparently or 12% loss

Its fallen about 7% YTD or 14% since Mar 9 and 1% gain in August

Excluding all that, on the link he makes a good point about trend lines and being involved, etc

Yes the US$ persistent weakness is a concern for my expectation of events. A persistently weak dollar will tend to maintain an upward pressure on equities. We look primed for an interesting fourth quarter.

I cant remember it happening recently but it does happen.
Its free to try anyway, try getting a quote off them at 8am and see how they do with most stocks

They'll have separate servers for forum and brokering stocks even if they are within the same company, not sure much can be inferred between the two really.
