Site Access / PS3 Network Sign In Issues

I have posted on here before about issues I am having with my internet and not being able to connect to certain sites as well as not being able to sign into the Playstation network on my PS3 (although I can access the net on it).

I am now going to buy a new router to see if this solves the problem, I currently have a Belkin: Can you recommend a router that will not have any issues with connecting the PS3/Me onto the playstation network?
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

I use a belkin myself. Have you tried just putting the PS3 outside the NAT in the router settings?

i have both a netgear and a belkin router (belkin is currently configured as an access point) and both work fine with the ps3.

have you forwarded the playstaton network ports correctly?

select your router from here, then click playstation network. if you can't find your router, any belkin router guide should be the same

don't bother about setting a static IP address for your computer. the PS3 is the one that needs a static IP address.

Is it always necessary to forward ports? or is it only for certain models of routers? anyone know of a router that I can just plug in do a basic install and it will work?

have you enabled upnp in the routers admin pages?

edit - have you recently updated the ps3 firmware to v2.70 as this may be the cause of not being able to sign into the PSN

You have to have the latest update to go online as above, but it will warn you at the time of signing in.

The PS3 is a uPNP device, so unless your modem is very, very old or as above uPNP is not enabled on thr router.
