Doorbell Upgrade

At present I have a simple ding-dong electric doorbell. I would like to upgrade this to a wireless system. However, I am hampered in that it's not possible to change the existing bell push or add another one as I live in a flat & all our pushes are identical.

My question, for those electronically minded is it possible to to attach a simple gizmo to the existing door bell in my flat perhaps to one of the tone bars or piston that would activate a wireless bell push ?

Thanks in advance.

I remember seeing an adapter that you connected to your existing pell push.
This looks like it would do, I guess its only compatible with byron bells.

Why wireless when you already have perfectly good wires to the existing bell? Just swap the existing doorbell for a new one.

Thx penrhyn. Good idea although I recently talked to a doorbell expert I found and was told that these sorts of products are not suitable in my case. Reason being my bell push is connected up to the mains to illuminate the bulb thus the converter you mention would drain its battery weekly.

I got a wireless one from B&Q, you just stick the push button on the front door and plug in the noisy bit where you want it (I have mine in the hall). I also have a second battery operated one that I take with me if I go in the garden. Might be worth looking at.

I agree with kwikbreaks. A wireless doorbell is only really a good idea where you don't want to or cannot run a wire, or where you need a portable solution in a big house or for a garden. They are unreliable, liable to interference and the batteries need to be replaced frequently (which results in missed calls when you don't notice). What is your reason for wanting to replace it?
