Washer Insurance???

I have my washer drier insured on new for old and have had since I had it which was only about 3.5 years old and I have had them out since September of last year 6 maybe 7 times to the same repair of the drier. They have eventually changed a part last time they visited but the same thing keeps happening and my floor is always soaked and i could never trust it to dry following a wash which is what its intended to do. I don't use it much but that is not the point. I should have this available to use and for most of the time its not. I asked about replacing the washer last time and I was told by the engineer that they would NEVER replace a washer for any fault where the part could be mended and it would not matter if they came out 20 times to it, it would always be repaired and fixed back up again. I would not recommend anyone having this type of policy with them as they actually would not do a "new for old" when the parts are NOT obsolete as i was told. I have worked out that since september, 2008 there has been maybe 5 weeks where i have had use of the drier completely. It makes a noise like someone is drilling the road in the kitchen which is so loud that we could not use through the night and also we cannot hear the TV when its going and also water leaks from under the draw front (not the actual draw) and soaks my carpet (which although is flotex still requires lots of towels down).

I have rang the actual insurer being Domestic and General and they have said its not their fault as hotpoint are the ones that have to right this off and hotpoint say that its not their fault as they are doing their job in repairing it. How can I get round this one??? I am so annoyed that they have now been at repairing this for over 6 months and its worse than ever now as each time it goes again something else happens too. It will happen again is my opinion and again I will not have use of my drier. Would trading standards help in this perhaps? I am getting fed up with fobs offs. Also each time I have to be in for the repair to be done. Granted I am at home at the moment but I would have had to have used up over 7 days holiday from work for repairs to my washer in 6 months and that is unfair too.

(AND THEY ARE OVER 1 HOUR LATE FOR TODAYS REPAIR:mad::mad:)

    Hi,

How funny it is that I should come across your post.

I am also having problems with Hotpoint appliances!

To cut a long story short we purchased a silver washer dryer and silver fridge freezer about 20 months ago as we had just purchased a brand new house and we wanted everything to match perfectly. In the first 6 months I had to call Comet out about 5 times to repair the washer/dryer, about 6 weeks ago the washer developed a leak we called Comet and they advised the warranty had ran out with them and we hadn't taken out the extended warranty so there was nothing they could do. We decided to get a friend to look at it (he owns his own washer repair shop) he informed us that the drum was cracked and it would not be worth repairing. We had to buy a new washer.

2 days ago we noticed the fridge was not cool we hsave had to have it repaired at a cost of £95.

Now as I earlier said these appliances were not even 2 years old, we opted for Hotpoint appliances as we thought we were buying quality.

I have emailed Hotpoint and this is their response:-
    ..................................................................................................

Thank you for your recent letter concerning the difficulties that you
have experienced with your Hotpoint Appliances.

Please allow me to clarify our position where a customer has purchased
an appliance through Comet. We are unable to intervene as your contract
of purchase and guarantee is with that company, not ourselves.

Meanwhile, thank you for making me aware of your complaint and I
apologise most sincerely for the fact that I am unable to assist you
further with this matter. Nevertheless, please accept my apologies for
the inconvenience you have been caused.

    Yours sincerely,

I will be contacting trading standards as I don't think this is good enough!!!

Yes but I wanted to know how long they expect Hotpoint products to last and I wanted to make them aware of the problems that I have had with Hotpoint appliances.
