Hi there
I was disappointed. It was more of a tidy up and trim than a haircut.
He spent about two and a half hours on the back of the hair, but I don't know why it took so long, plus, IMPORTANTLY, it was not how I wanted it. I was pretty fed up so didn't say anything.
It looks tidier, but no one can tell I've had a cut.
I'm actually going to go to another saloon and get it done by another student week after next.
However, if you want, I have details of other training places. PM me if you want them.
Yours disappointingly.

Thats the deal when you go as a model- think about it from their point of view- the last thing they want is a customer in tears/throwing things/shouting at them for 'ruining' thier hair, so as a result, students are very cautious, very careful and tend to do less then more. The tutors are there to help them, but also have about 30 other students to keep an eye on at the same time. The result? a very cautious and often perfect-perfect haircut, nothing risque nothing that different.
Sassoon academy are the ones I'd recommend for an over-the top haircut,- they have often been working for years and are working on a new stage of their career- to go a bit mad/'creative' - or failing that, go to a salon where they ask for a model in the window as the teacher is often working on a more one-to-one basis. Bring a photo of what you want and always say what you think at the end- students are there to learn- how will they learn if they don't get any feedback.
Hope you get on0 -
I used to go to the Alan D school of hairdressing, on Eastcastle St (off Oxford st, tott court road end). If it's still there it's either free for a haircut or very cheap, and they used to charge me £15 for highlights.

No one in the class was a 'new student'. My guy was already a Toni & Guy hairdresser and said he had been cutting hair for three years.
I often find that students, in general, want to get 'creative' as opposed to being cautious wherever they are T&G, VS etc. I have found that they always want to get trendy and go wild and you have to say 'no, classical'...
BTW what I asked for wasn't mad at all, it was very classical; it was just that he didn't do what I asked and only trimmed my hair. Maybe it's a man thing and they think 'this much' is two inches.
The reason I dislike going to Vidal Sassoon's is because often the instructor/teacher uses me as a model (because my hair is perfect for xx cut) and ok I have a very expensive cut but it takes even longer than the students, plus you have your hair cut in front of 20 people, then they take photos.
One of the best and fastest cuts I had was when I went to an independent saloon as a model. The girl was finishing her training and needed to be 'timed', so she just got on with it and did what I asked, after consulting with her colleague.“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”

Lol- I remember that!! its so funny when all the Japanese students gather infront with the camera!! but about 5 or so years ago, they actually paid me for a shop-window photoshoot and use in a promo video so its not all bad!
Not all are infront of people- the salon in Queensway is one-to-one and the only other person watching is a student. You do have to pay about £10 though but the cut is good and a little less....wild! Also its not as long as in the academy too.Sunny_Saver wrote: »One of the best and fastest cuts I had was when I went to an independent saloon as a model. Sounds like a good experience- hope you find somewhere similar!0 -

Always an "experience" though- you never will get quite so many cameras flashing at you all at once! :rotfl:must be what celebs go through every day! -they should have a serious warning for epileptics though- it could actually be fatal:eek:0
