Use a foreign exchange service. Do not go to the Post Office as there rates are awful. If you have it in cash then it is a little more problematic.

You will get the best rates in curency exchanges around Victoria / Queensway stations if you are in London.

I generally find Thomas Exchange on the strand reasonble. Type them into google for their current rates.
