Unpaid item strikes - how many is ok?

Hi,

I have won 2 items recently but have decided I don't want the items any more. I'm prepared for the 2 unpaid item strikes, but wondered how many a bidder needs to clock up before their account is suspended etc? eBay help pages don't make this clear.

Thanks

After 2 most sellers will have blocked you from bidding anyway as sellers have the option to block users with 2 or more strikes. If yu are a new user you might also already be risking your account, an established user may well have more leeway.

Sellers have a choice to block bidders who have 2+ unpaid item strikes in the last year so you may find yourself unable to bid for items in the future. I would suggest you contact the buyer, explain nicely, and try to meet a 'mutual agreement not to complete transaction'. I have in the past let 2 sellers off this way so that they do not get strikes.

And in future only bid on items if you are prepared to complete the transaction.

My Blocked Bidder list would exclude you with just 2!
Sorry to sound harsh, but I really think you should stop bidding on items unless you're prepared to pay for them.
Did you not read the bit about "You are committing to buy" when you placed your bid?
People who "Change their minds," are, frankly a pain in the neck. I guess you've never sold on Ebay so don't realise how much precious time NPBs waste?
I guess this isn't the response you wanted, but it's kindly advice really; honest & from the heart!

With the ability to block bidders with 2 strikes it is rather like a Darwinian theory, the TSFE buyers get limited with what they can bid on purely due to their own stupidy.

For any sellers who have not blocked these buyers Start from here to set buyer requirements to exclude overseas bidders or bidders with NPB strikes etc.

Thankfully you won't be buying anything from me with 2 strikes against you.

    kinda tough luck really.
the strikes are in place to stop people like you changing your mind and messing the sellers around. How would you like it if your trying to make some extra cash in a time like (resession) this and how much of a let down it would be for a buyer to commit to buy then want to change their mind.
It's happened to me a few times and it's not very nice.

I brought things before and later decided i didnt really want it, so I sold it on again. i didnt even contemplate asking the buyer to let me off the hook. why cant you just do that? or give it as a gift to someone? as the strikes are just going to stop you bidding in the future anyways.

sorry to sound harsh but even ebay rules state winning bid's and BIN's as full agreement to purchase.

In answer to the question "how many is ok", the answer has to be none. If you bid, you should pay.

2 will get you blocked by any sensible seller.

Personally, I think unpaid strikes should be visible, in the same way that feedback is, to prevent honest sellers from bad buyers like this.
