Confused??! Help with Disability living allowence/carers allowence

Just to update you kind folks that have helped...ESA awarded today (contribution based)....Housing benefit/Council tax benefit people will be told ESA granted ('flags up' on their computer i beleive-will show tomorrow) so we can finally get paid (Housing benefit claim put in 21 May, ESA claim 24 May!)...also DLA awarded (dated from last wk April)-care component is middle & low for mobility allowence....RESULT! This obviously means I can now claim form 3rd week of April Carers allowence for myself!!

The whole thing has been very very stressfull & yes-5 weeks is a long time to wait but the staff at the Job centres & DWP have been very polite & helpfull...

So thanks all for your help/advice!

Great news debtmonkey, it will all be a weight off of both your & your girlfriends mind. You can both just concentrate on getting better now.

It's Very thoughtful of you to post positive comments about DWP as I must confess I've only ever received good & helpful treatment from them when dealing with them myself. When people post very negative comments about dwp it gives the impression that everybody is going to be given a hard time & that just isn't true. People are generally very quick to condem but not to praise.
