need very good hotel in barcelona

going to have a few days in barcelona next week. Never been before .

need some quality chilling time .. to de-stress !

want to stay in a really good quality hotel 4 or 5 star .. but i'll obviously use various websites to get me the best deal.

Heard about las ramblas, shopping areas , etc but am i right in thinking i should go to a hotel on the promenade with good sea view .

(like i do on promenade d'es anglais in nice !!! )

also ... bus or taxi from airport ?? .. again i have no idea how far etc.

    Hiya,

I booked my parents a trip to barca about a year ago, at a really nice hotel , think it was called something like Majestic, will have a look in a minute see if i can find any details and post a link. I think it was a 5* (or a very good 4*), they said it was fantastic - the best hotel they had ever stayed at! I think it was central - ie not on the promenade. It was pricey though, i literally spent hours on internet trawlling from site to site to get the best price. I have been to barcelona myself and seem to remember the beach/sea area is a bit out of the way, and would have thought you'd be better off in a more central area? Not 100% sure on that though! sorry!
Oh, and to just have a look at some user reviews of hotels in barcelona, you could try this site : https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187497-Barcelona_Catalonia-Hotels.html

Hi, found that hotel - website is https://www.hotelmajestic.es It took ages for the page to load, but I am on dial up! It looks really nice and it is 5 *, I would imagine you'd have to do some searching to find a good price!

As Ems! mentions, https://www.tripadvisor.com is an excellent web site, I always use it when I'm travelling abroad. Once you've found the city or town you want to stay, it shows the hotels rated from number 1 to however many hotels are listed in order of customer ranking - it's excellent, highly recommended!

check it out pennymakepounds, and enjoy your trip ;)

las ramblas is great, the entertaners are amazing, watched a man with a skeleton puppet dance and sing to music, really good.
Though i bewarned the place is quite dear, i paid £3 for a can of coke!.
Really enjoyable place though, you'll love it!.

You have some fabulous places to choose from in Barcelona and i dont think it matters whether you are central or harbour because you will want to see both anyway and its not that bad a walk if you are reasonably fit.
    This place is spectacular

You could try the Rialto on the ramblas, stayed there 2 years ago, lovely 4* overlooking the ramblas,

As already advised, dont eat on the ramblas....use some of the side steets, costs far, far less

    have a great time !!!!!!!!
