                                  in Credit cards

My son bought a new 50cc motorbike in September 08 and when he broke his leg in Oct 08 the bike was stored as per manual.....He got all clear from Doc to go back to work on 5th jan so bike was taken from storage as per manual but the bike would not start....major hastle with retailer so tried section 75 with Lloyds Credit Card but they say as retailer has offered to fix it if I transport it 300 miles to Manchester at my expense they can do nothing for me...cost to receive bike from Manchester from new was £300 + so down and back would be over £600
Motorcycle has only done 250 miles from new so why should I be out of pocket for a purchase not fit for purpose.............
How do I put pressure on Credit Card company to take action as this has been going back and for since Jan 09
Any Advice Gratefully Received Please

I know a little about motorbikes, and has he had it looked at? It maybe outdated fuel in the engine, dust in the carb or anything small which wouldnt cost much to get fixed.0

Hiya
Did you buy it online or direct in person? To be honest you'd be better speaking to the seller and letting them know that you'll get a local person to look at it and within reasonable costs will invoice it to them.
Tell them you have no problem reporting them to the authorities for breaches within the Sale of Goods Act - to be honest it's all down to how well you negotiate and as TheEffect has said, it may be a cheap 30 quid job which to be honest i'd foot the bill or arrange in writing with the seller that they will pay you back this amount or even request an ex-gratia payment to 'contribute' to the cost prior to your claiming a chargeback for the whole cost via your bank. That should scare them into submission, and then simply report the chargeback as 'not as described' because you were sold a reliable bike with warranty and this is not the case.

who did you buy the bike from, was it a private seller, company etc
If its of a private seller, you might be a little stuck, as they prob won't offer a warranty, there again a brand new bike should come with a manufacturors warenty, might be worth a try calling the manufactory to see what they can do. if its from a company, they might have a dealership in your area. I alway's take my bike to where i bought it. there again its not far from my home,0 -
I bought the bike from a dealer in Manchester over the phone after viewing it on his company website as this was the model my son wanted. I asked about the warranty and I was told that it could go to any Main motorcycle dealer for any warranty work within the 2 year warranty.
when this problem occurred I transported it to my "Local" guy 50 miles away and he diagnosed low compression and contacted the seller for compression settings..........They told him it would not be the compression but a "stator" as they had had problems with this part on this make and model......He was put in contact with CPI UK who duly sent the part, which when fitted did not resolve the problem......
CPI UK told my guy that the bike would have to be properly diagnosed before any further parts could be sent but the seller would not authorise this work to be done as my guy was not a CPI Dealer........ ..............The nearest dealer is some 300 miles away from me.
I contacted my Credit Card under section 75, claiming it unfit for purpose and they wrote to the seller and he wrote back to them that he would be happy to help if I transported the bike back to him at my expense or he would arrange transport at my expense and as such the CC company could not get involved in a section 75 claim
I now feel as if I am stuck between a rock and a hard place with Nobody taking responsibility and I am left with a bike costing £2300 and it has only done 250 miles.
I have tried my local Trading Standards but they say it is a civil claim and without the information the seller told me about the warranty being in writing they could not help
