Frazzled by the sun

I recently sowed some baby corn seeds which had grown to an inch in height (on the window sil). With the sun the other day they now look like dried grass .
I've pulled one up and it's still quite healthy looking (under the compost).
Do you think they will recover, or would it be worth starting off some more?

Has anyone had any success with baby corn? I tried regular corn on cobs last year and got nothing!

The big ones got to about 2.5 feet tall but that was where it stopped,, not sure if dog nibbling end of leaves helped greatly. May try some baby corn as we eat so many of them, will perhaps put a guard round them to protect!

I had plenty of success with corn last year, even though the summer was pretty bad, I started them too late, and they were all being grown in flower buckets that shouldn't really have been big enough for them!

Not sure what advice I can give, but I think it's a little early for them right now. I shant be starting mine until this weekend, they'll stay in the greenhouse for about a month then get planted out. Sweetcorns are greedy things, but other than watering it's all in the preparation. They'll need the sunniest spot you've got, protection from the wind if possible (I just made a 'fence' around the buckets with garden junk to stop them blowing over), and rich growing media (last year I used compost and manure with a bit of vermiculite).

Once they're in, all they really need is plenty of regular watering - I added liquid feed once per week. Other than that, they just got on with it by themselves.

I grew minipops for 'baby' corn and swift and ovation for regular sized. I'll be sowing the rest of the packets of these this year, and also trying some strawberry popcorn. Oh, and don't get too hung up on people saying they should be 'knee high by the fourth of July'. I know loads of people who got off to too earlier a start last year because of that - it doesn't really apply to our climate!

I'm sowing my sweetcorn today! Probably stay in the greenhouse (unless it turns really cold, then inside with a blanket and mug of cocoa) until very early June. Depends on the weather of course.

ive got all my seeds in the greenhouse. the sweetcorn is the only thing sprouting, but im leaving it in there, no matter the temperature.
    isnt that how things 'harden'?

Yes, but some things don't like cold weather, it will put them back by a while, or kill them if it's too cold.
You might well be fine, depends how cold it gets where you are.
