Egg Card 2.1% Cashback for March

I have just logged into my Egg account and I had a secure message saying sorry for there card not working on one day last month and that they are going to give 2% bonus cashback for the whole of March. This is addition to the standard 0.1% cashback. This is only for the proper Egg Card Visa and not the Egg Money Mastercard.

This is the message I had:

We just wanted to say sorry.

A lot of credit card companies experienced problems in
the afternoon of Thursday 16 February. Unfortunately this
meant you couldn?t use your Egg Card during this time.

We hope this didn't inconvenience you too much. And,
as a way of saying sorry we wanted to tell you that
every time you use your Egg Card to purchase something
in March 2006 you'll get an extra 2% cash back. This will
be paid into your card account as a one-off payment on
your April statement and will show on the statement as
`March 2% cash back credit?.

When is your anniversary 0% offer?

Egg emailed me today offering me 3.9% apr on balance transfers until 1 august 2006 (2% handling fee, max £50). I must make all balance transfers before march 31st 2006.

Guess when my anniversary 0% offer starts!!! 1st April 2006!!!

    Very crafty in my opinion!!

I got an email too but they offered me 1.9% until August, then 15.9%. 2% handling charge. The cut off date is 31st March for me too. My anniversary starts on the 1st September.

So it seems they have sent this offer to everyone, but have changed the interest rates for different people.

    Hi,

I had this message too, but in my Money card (Mastercard). It does say an extra 2% cashback, so will the Moneycarders get 3% cashback in March? Sounds too good to be true, and the reason (service failure in Feb) wasn't Egg's fault either. Time to order the new kitchen apppliances.

    Regards, Oldhand.
  • I posted this on another thread, but it seems more relevant here. I just received my monthly bill for my Halifax One card, and they put in a flier about 0% on balance transfers for 3 months if you transfer before the 25th of March 2006. Any transfer is still subject to Halifax's standard 2% handling fee. Seems it's the time of year for credit card offers.

Oldhand can you check the message again as the message I had applies to Egg Card Visa at the bottom and refers to Egg Card and not Egg Money all the way through. As I have both cards I have only had one for the Visa card and not the Egg Money card.

As they may have just sent the message to everyone. Can you post the message on the forum.

I would like to get 3% cashback if I could!

    Cheers.

At least you have an egg card, my application has been accepted since January and STILL no egg card in sight :( This has now cost me £1580 in interest!

The first one went missing in the post, and the second one is still missing, should of been here on Monday, weird thing is, I didn't even recieve the PIN letter...

Egg don't send a pin through the post, you get it from the secure area on their site

    Hi Ma6jrp,

Oh blooming heck. I only have the Egg Money (Mastercard) so the Visa rules shouldn't affect me, or so I thought. I read the message and thought that it referred to me, after all it was sent to me!

So I read it again and right at the bottom (you know, at the end of all that stuff you never read) there's the line that says Egg Card refers to our VISA Egg Card.

My hopes have been cruelly dashed again. Why did they send this message to people who don't have an Egg Visa card? Ah well, 3% was too much to expect.

    Rgds.

Egg never offer me any promo. balance transfer rates outside of the 0% anniversary offer. I even emailed them yesterday and asked them. For those of you that do get offers, are you actually using your card or does it lie dormant until the anniversary month except as a through card for balance transfers?

    Hi

I use both the Egg Visa & Mastercard on and off through the year and the only deal I ever get is the anniversary offer - the one discussed here did not come through to me at any rate :-)
