eBid and ebay are separate, it is just that ebid have not been very savvy with their internet presense. People have bought up the ebid.com/.ie domain names to take advantage of people searching for ebid.

eBid does not need paypal, instead they have their own payment method called PPPay - and it is no better, nor worse than paypal. Same problems exist with chargebacks, withdrawal limits, verification, and fees charged etc.

The main problem with ebid is their lack of publicity to attract buyers. When was the last time you saw an advert for items for sale on eBid, or performed a google search and found links to ebid listings?
It's easy for any online auction site to tempt sellers on cost alone, just about anyone can (and has...) set up a free-to-list online auction site, but the intelligent sellers go to where the buyers congregate, regardless of cost - and that is ebay and Amazon in the main.
