But referral aint allowed on any other board accept referrals.

I am confused as to why you think posting a referal here is okay as long as you post a none referral link, but but sure why you aint aware of it aint allowed here accept referral forum, or why you aint even declared how you gain.

    REFERRERS BOARD

Posts should only be made on the Referrers board where site users have spotted a deal which can only be accessed via that person giving a referral/via their referral link. It is not for advertising goods/services/companies.

ok, ill remove it, although I dont think that there should be a problem if I offer the none referral link with it. I have seen it done before on this forum.

Hi, I have created a website and looking to advertise it but I don't know how to go about it, need it to cost as little as possible. Im not sure if I can post my website here to show you guys, if I am allowed, let me know and I will post it. Otherwise let me know of the best advertising strategies, Thank you,
    Ashy

Hi, I've tried many things to promote my site, I found optimising the pages so that search engines pick them up and give you a good ranking seems to be the best free option, although the older your site the better.

If you want to spend some money, get yourself a Google Ad Words account, pick the keywords you want to sponsor and then pick your price. I used to do 5p a click max £1 a day.

Do a search on SEO or search engine optimisation and you should find some useful info. Also, contact sites similar to yours and ask for a link exchange.

    Good Luck
  • 1. Check your site has good code/html and has meta tags on each and every page for title, description and keywords. Make sure page content correlates with meta tag info.

    2. Make sure there are text links on each and every page

    3. Create a Site Map page and list text links for every page or every major/important page if the site is very big. Make sure there is a link on the home page to the Site Map

    4. Rename page files using descriptive/keyword names. ie Change page2.htm to moneytips.htm. If you use sub directories then rename these using keywords as well.

    5. Get some content. The more the better. Spend time creating keyword rich pages, lots of pages

    6. Get inbound links (IBL). Many people say it is better to get IBL from related sites but I think the more the better. Approach people you know you have websites, surf the net using relevant keywords and contact websites to see if they will link. Offer a link back if needed. Use keyword text links never images. Search for directories relevant to your website and request a link/listing

    7. Go to search engines Google, MSN, Yahoo etc and see if you can be included in any directories and use the add URL facility. Many people say this is pointless. I would disagree but also say it does not hurt. DO NOT misuse this facility

Some search engines, esp Google, take weeks and sometimes months to list a site. Google will sometimes list the home page only for a few months to see if you are 'real' before releasing other pages.

    Be patient it will happen

Another thing you can do is use Google sitemaps
    http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login

As has been said before the best thing is good clean coding, titles, H1 headings, etc

For links, you really need links in from high ranking sites. It's not clear what kind of site you have. If it is to do with a particular trade or industry you can often get links from trade associations. Local sites (for counties or towns) can also be useful and DMOZ http://dmoz.org/ although they can take ages to index you.

    Some excellent advice on SEO.

Re: point 6, having read the Google documentation. It's my understanding that in order to satisfy the authority aspect of SEO, you should have relevant links in order to boost your rating.
