My story
I have been to-ing and fro-ing on these forums for a while now...and think I'm fighting a losing battle......
Brief history...
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in jan 04, 10 mths off work on SSP....we were renting privately...then offered a new housing association house, which we accepted....had to buy white goods, bedroom furniture, carpets etc.,.......we were managing with me working part-time and OH full-time and 2 non-dependents paying keep.
OH then had call from CSA and had to pay £486 a month [ long story..won't go into it ]...consequently we started struggling..max' out
CC's etc.,
Started a DMP with Payplan...but it was going to take 14years to repay debt [ debt 57,000...all credit debt ]......decided to go down IVA route...this was accepted in September last year [ through CCCSVA ]..payments sent at £196 a month ...going up to £487 in 2011 when CSA payments should stop.
Made 2 payments...then CSA decided they wanted another £100 a month....couldn't afford IVA payments consequently missed 3...discussed with CCCSVA...told them I was in a position to earn an exra £50 a month...they suggested a variation meeting to reduce payments to £146 until 2011 he again increasing paymnts when CSA payments stop.....variation accepted last week..have made one of new payment.
Now non-dependent who's keep is included in calculation for IVA is moving out....so will be losing £180 a month....to be honest I don't think 1 less is going to make much difference to outgoings though.
Now I am wondering if its worth coninuing to sruggle to pay IVA ...to do which I now am working full-time.
My aunt is dying form secondary breast cancer ....and to be honest its made me look at things.....I could struggle to pay into IVA and it could still fail and I would lose money I'd paid in....do I want my life to be like this...on top of the worry of cancer?
I have no assets, rent home from housing association, BR would not affect job.
I have the forms from the county court...but have never filled them in though seem pretty straight forward to fill in.....when I took out the credit it was my intention to pay it back..so I guess my doing an IVA I felt that at least I was paying something back.......now I feel a re-evaluation is in order.
Any thoughts, oipions, views appreciated
