What gifts did you get for your 30th birthday?

Just curious to know did you receive any 'keepsake' gifts for your 30th birthday? It's my 30th soon and my Mum keeps asking what I would like, but I really don't know. There is nothing I want (have been on MSE far too long!:A), only boring things I need, like some new trainers, but Mum thinks I should have something to keep. Any ideas/inspiration please. :)

errrmmmm, I got a Tandem Skydive.

    :D:D

Always said I wanted to do it before i was 30 so thats what I did 3 days before I was 30 :)

Not really a keepsake but an amazing memory:cool:
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
  • It's my husband's 30th in July and I have had a little think.
I know that he would love new trainers too, so they are going to be a definite.
Seeing as he doesn't wear his wedding ring (he says it 'hurts his finger'!!) I have thought about getting a personalised silver dogtag necklace with 2 pendants on, one with my details on and the other, our daughter's.

He's not really big on these keepsake things.
I don't know how you feel about asking for an 'experience' like the tandem skydive that Quackers has suggested? I think it is a brilliant idea, certainly would be a birthday to remember. Sphereing and white water rafting with friends is pretty good too. Depends what you're into.

    Have a fab day!

For me it was a weeks ski-ing in Andorra (with ski lessons).
I'd never done anything like it before and absolutely loved it.
    Great 30th birthday memories :D

    I don't remember what I got either!!

What's the point of getting something keepsake-y if it's totally pointless?

For my 18th/21st I got loads of nice jewellery, but it was all gold and I only wear silver, it just sat in my jewellery box (until we got robbed and then I replaced it with stuff I liked!) My b/f has a tankard (which at this minute is buried on a shelf with tie-wraps in it...which I'm sure isn't it's intended use!!!)

My sister had the same problem as you, every time someone asked her what she wanted she gave them a long list of DVD's (she a bit of a film nut), and they just kept saying 'oh but I want to get you something special you can keep'

My OH bought me a pair of diamond stud earrings (I chose them). I'm 34 now and still wear the earrings nearly every day.

I have always wanted to see U2 play live but never have and OH has bought tickets for us to see them at Wembley in August. Am over the moon, one of those lifetime ambition things to cross off the list!
 If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain

I cannot remember what I got for my 30th. For my 40th I didn't get anything special either but that was probably because my husband was in charge of it. I always give something special as a keepsake to friends and family for their milestone birthdays but that is probably because that is what I do work wise.

Rammy007 - will wait with baited breath to see what you get. When is it?
  • Twins!!! I was 5 weeks pregnant, very sick and hadn't told anyone!! I had a huge party, didn't drink and no-one asked why I was driving!

The ultimate keep sake I think!
