    Being quite dumb here....

We like the idea of a 2 tier cake but want the cakes directly stacked on each other. I assume this would need the rods put inside the cake?

    How do I do this?

    There's some links here:

I hope this helps, you'd use three on each of the two bottom tiers, place them inside the cake in a triangle after the cake has been iced and stack the next tier on top, and then finally add the last tier. Traditionally fruit cake is used for the bottom tier as it has more stability to carry the weight of the cake.

Can I add that a friend recently bought three tiers of cake from Asda/Tesco and it worked out much cheaper than M&S, Came to something like £25 for all three tiers,

I then decorated them, you will need to buy boards if you are stacking directly on top of each other so that the board doesnt stick out. (I cheated and made my owmn from cardboard which I covered with foil). The rods are really easy to buy from any cake suppliers.
  • Thanks Kidcat, I have been looking at the asa ones. What did they taste like? Tiger x
