Saloon or hatch?
Could anybody explain to me how can an imported
Vauxhall astra 1994 1.4i merit 5dr hatchback be described as a saloon in a HpiCheck?
what does it mean?
I have seen the mot cert. and it seems alright. The current owner had the car since 1996 and it is described on the V5 as a saloon.
Thanks.

It is not unknown for the DVLA to get details wrong on registration documents, but I would ask the seller why he didn't get it corrected.
On the other hand, you did the check and it has shown something wrong. It coud be a ringer.
Personally, I would walk away, there are plenty of other cars out there.Russ.0 -
I thought the DVLA used 'Saloon' as a generic term to cover both saloon and hatchback cars (and maybe even estate cars). If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

My 5-Door 306 is classed as a 5 door hatchback on the V5 though personly i wouldnt worry to much, i'd just make a note on the log book or on a piece of paper when returning the V5 to the dvla when chaging ower details just stating that it's a 4-Door and not a 5-Door.0
