My fridge is broken after 2 1/2 years

Hi guys,
I bought an Indesit fridge/freezer in October 2006 which had the standard 1 year warranty.
The fridge part has decided to stop cooling and I tried defrosting etc and nothing has helped. The freezer part is working fine.
I would have thought that a fridge should last longer than this and phoned Indesit and pointed this out to them. All they offered was a repair for £100 or repair and new warranty for £150. Given the price of fridge I don't think either options are worth it.
Is there anything I can do? Surely a fridge should last longer than this?

ours had exactly the same problem. after 3 visits from engineers the third discovered there was a block of ice formed in the cooling pipe and he blasted it with a hairdryer of all things. never had a problem since. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

I've been googling the problem and it seems to be quite common. Trouble is my fridge/freezer is screwed in so I'm just going to turn it off for a couple of days and hopefully it'll defrost.
Hope thats all thats wrong with it
