Advice on buying from Dell
Comments

I would agree that the 12m warranty is worthwhile, but not beyond that. If there are problems then generally they will show up before 12 months.
And I saw a Dell recently where the owner had taken an extended warranty (3 years), and the hard drive failed just 3 weeks beyond the cut off date...No free lunch, and no free laptop

We have had a load (40+) dell PSU's all go at work after 2 years constant use, it's not a Dell issue as such it's the same brand/ model PSU going in them all just what thay happen so have bought a dodgy batch. That said we're getting them replaced next day with no bother, so the warranty is well worth it for us.
Depends how much you rely on the machine..0 -
This is very important. Dell's pricing is a SCAM when you add extras to the basic machine.
Bit harsh. We got a desktop from Dell a few weeks ago and we upgraded almost everything we could! Even after doing that and looking at the price, we couldn't do better for spec (looking at make/model of components) for price from other companies.
I'm not sure I'd buy a Dell if I was using it all day every day, but for a basic home PC we're very happy with ours (we both have laptops which this supplements) and my mum's had one for 3-4 years that's still going strong.
EDIT - don't forget Quidco - we're getting £44 from them! And I put it on my 5% cashback American Express credit card.
I also found a discount code online - it's expired now but google 'Dell discount code' and you might find a current one. 0 -
Yep would be fine, all speakers are pretty much standard unless you start going for more expensive ones (e.g. 5.1 surround sound).
Good luck with your dell purchase. What model are you going for?
Was looking at Inspiron 545 - looking to spend about £350 max.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
