Cheap pass Manchester airport lounge T1

I'm not rich, but- these stupid USA flights open their check in 4 hrs prior to departure & as there are 5 of us we would like to sit together. So, we either pay £160 to pre book TC seats, OR, check in early & go to executive lounge, which is a bit cheaper. However, how can I get it cheaper than £18 each. Its bad enough waiting for flights, so thought I'd make it a bit more comfortable. Anyway, by the time you've bought a cup of coffee & a sandwich, you could've paid for the lounge.
