Good thinkingIt's nice to be nice .....
You HAVE checked google before asking, haven't you?;)
If you use the "search this thread" button at the top of the page, you may find it's been answered already!;)0 -
Hi All
Veggiecar came up with a great idea recently, but it hasn't really taken off because the post got lost several pages back amongst all the subsequent chat.
Basically, Veggiecar thought that adding a 'Coupon FAQ' list would be helpful to new (and existing) couponers (see this post). I think this is fantastic, and would hopefully help to avoid a lot of the repetition of questions that goes on here (not that we mind helping out newbies, but it would just be good to have a central reference for all of these queries).
So, here's my thoughts. We all help to compile a list of common questions, and then the experts (if they wish to assist) can 'answer' the questions. I'll then copy and paste the Q&As into the 1st post (adding the username of the author to each answer).
Here's an example of how it may look:QUESTION: So I don't have to buy the product to use a coupon? What do you mean? So, what do you think? Would it work? If so, could people help out with firstly suggesting questions, and then volunteering to compose answers.
ANSWER: We mean that Tesco and Waitrose have a policy which will accept money off coupons if they stock the product, even if you buy something completely different. So say you print the 20p off Turkey Drummers coupon posted earlier but go into Tesco or Waitrose and buy a loaf of bread, if your local store accepts internet printed mocs you can use the 20p coupon anyway.
The only exceptions would be you can't use out of date coupons (even though they WOULD still scan), nor any that don't have a barcode that starts with 99 nor any that state for use in a specific supermarket.

I'll kick things off by adding Veggiecar's questions below:
Where can I use the coupons?
Do I REALLY not have to buy the product?
I cannot print couponnet coupons any more...any advice?
The prints are too big or small and fuzzy....any advice?
I'm new and nervous..any hints?
My coupons were refused, any advice?
How do I know if Tesco stocks it?
Thanks in advance for your contributions. Feel free to ignore if you don't think it's a good idea.

Is this worth adding?....
Q.How do I know how many coupons I can use?
A.Varies from store to store.Sometimes it's a percentage of your shop, or it's limited by number of coupons you can use at any one time. Some stores are better than others and will allow you to pay for all your shop with coupons, try all stores in your area and shop in the one that suits you best.Ask at Customer Services what their policy is.0 -

If any barcodes are a bit fuzzy, you can always superimpose a clear one over the top. Just Google barcode generator - this is the one I use http://www.barcoding.com/upc/
Leave all the options as what it defaults to and type in the 13 digit barcode and you can get a much clearer version to save and then put over any fuzzy ones.
Before anyone starts there's no defrauding or anything going on here!0 -

Well technically changing the barcode is tampering with the coupon! i.e. ill-advised (one could superimpose whatever code they wanted) :undecided Possibly better just to print a clearer barcode copy on the reverse, perhaps.0 -
I can't think of an exact question / answer like bullshot- but I think it would be a good idea if we compose a question along the lines of
why you can't use coupons that;
are out of date,
aren't meant for the store,
have been altered/defaced in ANY way
that are photocopies of manufacturer coupons/photocopies of magazines etc
And the answer would include obviously that it's abusing the policy, that it could stop the store from allowing coupons full stop, or that it could stop the store from allowing internet coupons - which is the reason for this thread, T can't get their money back etc etc, and any more reasons you can think of, add away.
If you think its a rubbish idea, just leave it, just thought naive newbies might need something like that??0 -

Went to sainsbury's today for my Candia free milk before they expire tomorrow, and spotted Finish quantum 10 packs for £1.80 on offer. Used my coupon for £2 and hey presto - 20p to me for taking them away :rotfl:.
Just so i know if i'm asked, where did the finish coupons come from?0
