I think the black amex card is for the super rich or celeb type people. I also think that you don't apply for it then invite you to have one.

Just tried the Avis car rental (20% off link) to see if it was cheaper than thetravelsupermarket.co.uk and it wasn't cheaper, still a good spot though. ;-)

I was invited to have a platinum card but at a cost of £250 odd a year. No way.
