Car Warranty Insurance

Hi, first thread (and post!) so please be kind 
Over the past few weeks i've seriously considered getting Car Warranty Insurance. This has basically been fuelled by the fact that I just had to have a new clutch costing £300!
However, i actually dont know anyone who currently has warranty on their car (besides manufacturers). Could anyone give me some feedback on their experience of this?.....how much trust do they give you (choice of garage etc). Also what is typically included? For example I would hope that my clutch would've been included but what about things like belts etc.
I dont want to go the 'peace of mind' route and get insurance just to be told later on that x isnt covered.
