                    Hello All
I hope all of you are well and enjoyed your Easter weekend.
Last week, lidl had a car polisher, which is I am still tempted to buy!
I want to know if it is a good one, or, what to look for if I want to buy one. The one in question is for £19.99, and comes with 3 years warranty. It has got 5m cable and 2 synthetic and terry towelling polishing bonnets, washable. It weighs 2.55 kg. No load speed 3300 rpm.
Any thought or advice will be gratefully recieved.
Many thanks

Don't. I bought one from Halfords for my daughter and really they just don't have enough power to cope with the sownward pressure required.. I did it a lot faster by hand.0

my mum bought my dad one of these the last time they had them in and my dad in his usual disgusted manner threw it in the garage saying it was carp(still boxed not used). then he got his new van and wanted to give it a polish as it had recently been sprayed. now he's like a kid with a toy he thinks it is great but as said if you are fit enough to do it by hand theirs not much point.
one thing he dose say is not to apply to much pressure to the machine use it like a buffer and skim the surface and don't over do the wax etc for the best result's.
Good luck if you get one.slowly going nuts at the world:T0

i bought a cheapo blackspur one for a tenner a few years ago, it done the job and took less time than doing it by hand, similar finish though....work permit granted!0

I've just bought the Lidl one last Thursday. So far it's made a great doorstop for keeping the back door open. OH is off tomorrow so I'll try to get him to road test, lol.Herman - MP for all! 0 0

I got a cheapo one from woolies a while back. Only used once and don't really fancy using it again. I found it wasn't too bad at applying the polish, but when it came to buffing off it was easier by hand.
AFAIK the best ones are about £100 at least. I'm sure the people at detailingworld.com will know all about the best ones 0 0

^ what that man said, if you want a good polisher you need a random orbital sander or a rotary sander orbital sanders are about £30 rotarys £40 ish upto £200 :-).If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Thank you very much for your responses!
Is it this one that people were talking about in the other forum?
Does it have to be random orbital sander to make a goood effect? Or does the rotatory one is enough?
Many thanksBe nice, life is too short to be anything else.0

Cool. £20 in toolstation with 3 years guarantee, plus there's a store near me. Somewhat tempted to try.
I presume the cheapie "car polishers" aren't random orbital and just spin around?
Yes thats right mate, you will also need to buy the backing plate and pads. These cheap polishers will only work on light swirling so if the swirling is severe then these wont really have much of an effect. I am thinking of getting one of these in the summer for my Focus."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"
